Today we are going to look at a healthy salmon recipe that is not only delicious, but also easy to prepare.

Serving size: 4

Ingredients

2 teaspoons mustard (whole-grain)

1 teaspoon honey

1/4 teaspoon turmeric

1/4 teaspoon red pepper

1/8 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

4 salmon fillets (6oz.)

Non Stick spray

Utensils needed

A medium baking sheet tray
A medium bowl (a cereal bowl works just fine)

Preparation

The first step is to combine the first six ingredients in a medium sized bowl. Make sure that you combine the ingredients evenly for the proper taste
Coat the sheet tray with your cooking spray
Place each fillet of salmon on the tray with the skin side down
Gently rub the mustard mixture onto each fillet. Make sure that you get an even coating for best flavor
Place the salmon under the broiler of your stove (usually on the bottom of the stove) and cook for approximately 8 minutes. You can tell when they are done by lightly pulling a fork across their surface. When the fish begins to flake away, they are ready. Also you can use a meat thermometer; once the internal temperature reaches 145 degrees the fish is done.

That’s it, you are ready to season to taste and enjoy. This main dish also pairs well with a variety of common vegetables and grains. For some added flavor and texture, try serving this dish on a bed of wild rice. This will not only add texture and flavor, but it will also provide some carbohydrates. For your vegetable, the choice is up to you. Fish is easily paired with any vegetable, but many find that it is best served with a “stronger” green vegetable such as broccoli or asparagus.
