Resistance Training On An Empty Stomach

When you perform cardiovascular training, it is beneficial to do it on an empty stomach. Your body will burn fat for energy because it’s glycogen (carbohydrate) storages are depleted. Because cardiovascular training is aerobic, you have a lesser chance of fainting due to exhaustion.

This information does not; however, apply for weight training. First and foremost, you NEED higher amounts of glycogen in order to perform resistance training. Also, you can actually pass out from not eating and moving weights! Keep your energy levels high and keep yourself from fainting by eating 30-60 minutes prior to resistance training. Eat a combination of protein and carbohydrates in order to keep you energized for your workouts!

Today’s post goes out to Gaby Rodriguez from Keasby, NJ who loves having a banana 2 minutes prior to training haha. Keep up the hard work SeƱorita!
