Fruits and Sugar

One of the biggest misconceptions when it comes to weight loss involves fruit. Many believe that by eating fruit will make you lose body fat. The truth to the matter is that the sugars that are found in fruit are the same as any regular sugar. There ARE NOT special ‘fruit sugars’.

You should definitely still have your 2-3 servings of fruit a day for the essential vitamins you typically don’t attain from other foods. Another important fact is to have fruit at the right time of day. Ideally, one should have fruit only for breakfast, and if a workout is involved that day, then a post workout fruit as well. Your body doesn’t use very much consumed sugar at a time. When you are in a catabolic mode, much like when you wake up in the morning or after a training session, it is good to have fruit.

Your glycogen storages are depleted because you have just fasted for the past few hours of sleep or you used them for your workout. In other words, the carbohydrates that you consume, which are stored in muscle tissue for use are depleted. Your body will then be able to absorb more of that consumed sugar.
