Drop sets, drop sets. What are drop sets??
So let’s say you just did a set of dumbbell rows with 40lb’s in each hand. You put them down, wait 5-10 seconds, grab a lower weight (20’s??) and perform another set immediately after. Simple right?
The concept of drop sets works in the same fashion as a superset with a difference being in that you don’t switch the exercise. Performing drop sets gets your heart rate up and breaks down the muscle faster. Besides being a time saver, drop sets also enable you to hit different muscle fibers all at once. If you performed a set of 8-12 repetitions with the 40’s, the drop set with the 20 pounders can have a repetition range of 15-20 repetitions. That way you can hit both your slow twitch and fast twitch muscle fibers.
